Memory Untrampled

Duration: 30.10.2021–6.05.2022 Place: KL Plaszow / Eagle Pharmacy (a branch of Kraków Museum) Booking: recruitment complete Description: ‘Memory Untrampled’ is a project carried out by young people as part of the European Solidarity Corps, in cooperation with the Europe4Youth association, the KL Plaszow Museum and the Kraków Museum during this year’s edition of ‘Remember With Us’.

Young people living in Kraków addressed the topic of space in the Memorial site, the area of former German Nazi forced labour camp and concentration camp Plaszow, using the medium of photography. A visit to the former KL Plaszow area, a workshop in taking and processing photographs, and repeated meetings in the Memorial site, enabled the participants to show the present of the post-camp area from their perspective.

Selected photographs displayed on the gate to Oskar Schindler’s Enamel Factory represented wide plans, but also superimposed details of the KL Plaszow space and Kraków’s Podgórze district. Each photograph can be perceived as a single look taken by its author, and all pictures considered as a whole create a complex tale of the difficult history and the present of the Memorial site.
